I had the honor of being selected as a resource for an article “Avoidance Strategies: How advisers can help sponsors steer clear of common plan errors” in the May/June issue of Plan Adviser magazine, which focuses on helping advisers educate plan sponsors about common errors in retirement plan administration and how to prevent these errors. As a plan auditor who sees many of these issues, I believe these errors, and the tips to help prevent the errors, are an important resource for plan sponsors, third party administrators, and others involved in administering the plan. A plan sponsor that knows what areas of plan administration cause the most issues can look at its plan operations and identify if these issues may be present, or if preventive controls may help strengthen plan administration.
